I dont quite understand why you say this.
Oracle could release a version that was known to work with a specific linux configuration (kernel, libs etc.) and offer support only for that configuration.
It would be _very_ interesting to then compare Oracle performance on linux against Solaris Sparc, Solaris X86 and NTX86. Perhaps this is why there's no linux version :)
