Running on 4 procs causes the disk to seek more and transfer less. This would mean that you have a hot spot on a disk.

Rather than theorize why not look at the system during the load process and see. Most SMP systems also allow you to offline processors in software so you could even run the test one after the other. You might also try 3 procs.
