I do not think it is supported on HP with non raw partitions. I read a
while
back in the 7.3.2 ICG for HP/UX and it stated that it was to be used for
raw partions only. If you set it to true in the "init<sid>.ora" it will
not use it on
non raw partions. You can prove this to yourself using glance or look
to see
if /dev/async gets touched when you do write to a filesystem.
