Sad, really. We run a fairly large Oracle database on an older RS/6000 running AIX 3.1.2 and Oracle8 will not support 3.1.2. We have two new Linux/Intel machines (which beat the pants off our AIX boxes in raw performance) with high-end SCSI devices attached. Right now, we are trying out the solid server to see if it will be able to handle the big tables which Oracle is currently responsible for. I would like to renew our Oracle contract and move everything over to the Linux boxes, but if they will not provide an upgrade method (we do _not_ want to upgrade AIX just to run Oracle) then "que vayan".

If Oracle doesn't support Linux because it is a "poor mans" operating system, then why do they make a WindowsNT version??
