remote dba (pc - unix)

I have designer/2000 on my pc with a 7.1 database on unix. I am trying to use the database expander under the Oracle Personal7 group to enlarge my database. It keeps asking for a database password. If I type in what I think is the password it says invalid logon/password but if I hit return it says insufficient priviledges.

What needs to be set on the server to allow me to do this? I am using Net V2. Please bear with me as I try to learn this. The DBA left and I'm taking over. But until I get more training....
