Hi,

if i use the ocopy command in NT to make hot backups, do i need to issue the command alter database begin backup or does the program do that??

also, if i run the database in archive mode, and do the following am i guaranteed that i always can recover the database?

  1. archive mode on
  2. shutdown and full backup of all db files
  3. startup database
  4. backup all archive files nightly
  5. once a week take a hot backup of all tablespaces

do i need to backup control files and log files nightly/weekly as well ?

thank you for clarifying this for me
