reinstall 7.3.2 on DEC UNIX

I'm trying to reinstall Oracle 7.3.2 on DEC UNIX. It seems to have stored passwords for the internal user somewhere and I can't figure out where. I can't start the server running after installing it because I can't connect internal. Does it store anything anywhere else besides $ORACLE_HOME and where I tell it to put the data? is there anything that needs to be deleted besides those directories (after doing a Uninstall)?

I have root on the machine. This does not seem to bne enough.

Any help would be appreciated.
