Those of you using Veritas volume mgt. software (typically on a Sun with an SSA) should check out the Veritas home page (http://www.veritas.com). There is some good info on how their product works with Oracle and the tradeoffs of using UFS or raw, readv or not, number of datafiles, etc. They did a lot of very good benchmarking and it is definitely worth a read for a high-performance shop.
