it is my understanding that r/o transactions depend *much more* on rbs to
keep the data 'current' because all selects return the result they would
have given at the point of the 'set transaction read only'.
Oracle would use the rbs to 'serve' queries that need 'pre-committed' data.
Anyone out there knows who's right???
