IBM SP2 and Parallel Oracle are a good combination, and quite scalable, however if your application was not designed to take advantage of parallel server, you could get serious lock and performance problems when adding parallel nodes, at least until Oracle 8 where I believe the Distributed lock manager works at the row level, eliminating false pinging. If your app is already in production and you need scalability without redesign, then your probably better off with and SMP box. Received on Wed Nov 20 1996 - 00:00:00 CST
