What sort of UNIX kernal parameters do you use to get the best out of Oracle on an alpha. We want to have a large SGA to cache as much data as we can.

I've just installed Oracle 7.3.2.1.0 on an alpha with 250M RAM and 183MHz alpha processor. Then I applied the 7.3.2.2.0 patch.

We also redid the UNIX kernal as recommended in Appendix C of the Installation Guide for Digital UNIX.

The machine ran like a dog, so we undid the UNIX kernal changes and everything seems to be ok.

Any suggestions/recomendations?

Thanks,

Robert Power
