oracle/livewire

i am attempting to access an oracle database via sql*net using livewire. the netscape server (fasttrack 2.0), livewire (beta 5), oracle (7.2.2), and sqlnet (v1) are all running on the same solaris box.

using the dbadmin sample program, i am unable to get a database connection.

        Server Type: ORACLE
  Server Identifier: t:build1:devl
            User ID: foo
           Password: [not shown]
           Database: devl

i am getting the error ORA-03113. oerr reports:

% oerr ora 03113
03113, 00000, "end-of-file on communication channel"
// *Cause:
// *Action:

has anyone encountered this before, or has anyone successfully used livewire to access an oracle database?
