Q: Protocol.ora - TCP aliases

I ran into a problem using $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/protocol.ora settings. It seems that the listener process does not expand the tcp aliases used in this file with the tcp.invited_nodes setting (with tcp.validnode_checking set to yes). Though it is possible to use tcp aliases in the tnsnames.ora file, the entries in protocol.ora are not checked against /etc/hosts. Is there a workaround, or do I just have to hardcode the tcp/ip addresses into the protocol.ora file?
