Slow response time connecting to db from sqlplus or sqldba

Hello folks,



We are experiencing slow response time when connecting to a database 
through sqlplus or sqldba. It takes upto 5 seconds after the username 
and password have been submitted. On another system, the response is 
instantaneous. 



We are running Oracle 7.1.6 on SGI IRIX 5.3. Any ideas what could be 
causing this slowdown?
