Job Title: VB.NET Web Application Developer
Location: Akron, OH
Duration: 9 Months
Job Description
This position could be assigned to one of a few planned projects that require VB.NET development. This will involve the following activities:
• Designing the solution and providing estimates • Development of the application in VB.Net • Supporting unit, integration, and stress testing for the application • Documenting technical specifications • Providing production support and technical troubleshooting of implemented functionality Additional responsibilities include: • Working independently or with business analysts to support requirement definition and test scenario identification • Documenting processes/procedures and specifications for peers • Consistently anticipating and delivering results • Providing advice, education, and encouragement to others • On call availability for systems support during or after implementation
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, or related degree, or commensurate experience in lieu of degree
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with VB.NET Web / Windows forms application development
Required proficient experience with the following:
• VB.NET / ASP.NET Windows / Web application development with the following additional experience: • .NET APIs • CSS • HTML • XML • Relational database experience Preferred experience with the following: • Web Services, including REST • Unix scripting • Javascript • Oracle SQL and PL/SQL syntax knowledge • Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or later • Entity Framework • Devart • TOAD for Oracle • Visual Source Safe • Infragistics Net Advantage • Utility industry or retail sales knowledge working with billing, commissions, quote management, costing or contract management business processes • Analytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team • Good communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations to various audiences, the ability to express difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing • Ability to meet established priorities and schedules, and willing to undertake assignments involving multiple tasks • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, with the aptitude to learn quickly • Highly motivated to work independently and productively but also able to work in a virtual environment (working with remote co-workers using virtual technologies) • Expertise with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word • Able to learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology • Ability to work with non-technical business clients to obtain detailed information about technical issues or requirements
