fuction using view with union stops query

Ive got a view that unions two similar tables



Ive got function that uses that view to find the last record and spits
out a column.



when i run the function by itself it always work.



I have a simple one table query that has a column that function
expects. The select works great, when I put in the function nothing is
returned in the select.
