The question is: how to handle the two characters "ij" as a single character; not many keyboards support "ÿ", so "ij" is used.

This situation can be extended to more languages: German has the Ringel-s, (0x0225 "ß"), now often written as "sz" (think it's even official now - native Germans around, that can clear that?)
