1 As far as I remember the installer or the database creation assistant. Obviously this is documented, so please look up the documentation.
2 RMAN has nothing to do with setting up ASM, but obviously you'll need it to back up your ASM files.
3 you can set up ASM manually. But it would be more work, and more prone to error.
4 setting up RMAN is not necessarily a big task, but one need to realize the implications. The RMAN interface has always been very unforgiving for errors during backup, so if you run out of space: KABOOM.
