Need Help on Installing Oracle on Slackware 11

To all,

I'm trying to install Oracle on Slackware 11. I've followed the various instructions listed at linuxquestions.org but as far as I get is that it appears to be running but I can not connect to it on port localhost:5560. I've been at this for about a week and I am beginning get very frustrated.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
