What query tool / front end does everyone give to their users? My company is pushing the latest version of Discoverer, which is fine for novice end users. However, you can only join tables using the admin version, which is a problem for power users. I don't think I'm asking for much, but there does not seem to be any one tool that has everything I'm looking for, which is:

Here is my analysis of the query tools that I've used. What is your opinion? Can you recommend some more?

Oracle Discoverer - Good for novice users only, not for power users. Having to go thru an admin to add tables & joins is a huge negative. However, it is free. I think it's free.

Oracle SQL Developer - Shows great promise and it is free! Too much for end users though.

Oracle Browser - I don't think this is supported any more.

SQL Plus - Power users & developers only.

MS Access linked tables - Please don't flame me for this one! But it does work, is easy to use & everyone has it. The downside is the potential for horribly slow queries.

Brio/ Hyperion - This is probably my favorite query tool. It has almost verything I want in a query tool. When we bought this tool a few years ago, however, the high end version was very pricey. Received on Wed Mar 21 2007 - 12:53:59 CDT
