GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is for a senior DBA with minimum of 5 years experience with production Oracle environments (OLTP and/or OLAP) with strong communication skills. Candidates must be willing to travel as an Centium consultant to client project sites and professionally deliver Oracle based technology solutions.

The role will support a variety of Centium Oracle-specific solutions including, but not limited to; Oracle 9i/10g database projects, Oracle Fusion middleware installations (application server and tools) implementations of Oracle systems for business and internet-facing application systems.

Role will also be heavy in configuring secure Oracle backup solutions and implementing Oracle Real Application Cluster and DataGuard (standby) systems.

DUTIES
· Install and configure Oracle database environments
· Perform architecture and design of Oracle systems for clients.
· Integrate enterprise-wide Identity Management solutions and
integration between Oracle Internet Directory and non-Oracle directories.
· Design relational database schemas utilizing common and
three-tiered database structures.
· Perform database tuning and administrative functions for production
and data warehousing environments.
· Provide architecture "best-practice" recommendations to Centium
clients for Oracle database implementations.
· Perform Oracle installs, upgrades, patching and other
administrative functions for clients
· Communicate projected timeline, develop applications according to
customer specifications, provide detailed documentation of project work, and work with other Centium consultants to provide quality solutions to its clients.
· Install, configure and deploy Oracle based high-availability
solutions on Unix, Linux and Windows platforms using Oracle RAC and Oracle DataGuard.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND EDUCATION
· Oracle DBA - 9i or 10g. OCP designation not required, but
preferred.
· Fluent understanding of Oracle RDBMS engine, including
configuration and internal Oracle components.
· Strong installation experience for Oracle DB and AS environments
- in highly available deployments and in disaster recovery environments.
· Strong experience working with Oracle support for fast issue
resolution on client environments.
· Understanding and experience with Oracle RMAN and Flashback
technologies, including integration to third party "hot backup" agents that integrate with RMAN.
· Understanding of how to properly recommend disk space, RAM and CPU
capacities related to "sizing" an Oracle environment.
· Strong Oracle disk "layout" experience. Be fluent in Oracle
SAME and MAA architectures
· Experience with Oracle 9i, 10g in test, development, QA and
production environments in single or multi-tiered deployments.
· Experience with Oracle Application Server (9i or 10g) from both
installation and administrative perspectives a strong plus.
· Experience with Oracle advanced database security options (VPD,
Label Security, Advanced Security) a strong plus
· Strong operating system experience in Unix, Linux and Windows for
installation purposes.
· Unix/Linux skills a definite plus as many application environments
are on these platforms.
· Four-year BS in Computer Science preferred, or at least five years
work experience in Oracle production environment.

SUPERVISION
· Reports internally to the Regional Services Manager and works with
Project Manager(s) to ensure project milestones and target dates are met.
· Reports externally to the client project manager.
· Documents all client work for internal use and client knowledge
transfer.
· General setting of goals and objectives without direct day-to-day
supervision.
