If you want Tom answer you I advice to post the create and insert statements for him to build the example and show you how to handle it.

I think you should do the same here and I'm pretty sure some of us have a closer look at your question as we have no time to spend building *your* test case.

Moreover giving the full Oracle version is mandatory to get an accurate answer as this one highly depends on it.
