Thanks for the reply - I have indeed been searching around in many of those books but I can't come up with anything related to ADO. I can see certain low level OCI calls are available but I hate to delve that deep into the crud. Searching for Bind Variables and Placeholders comes up with a seemingly infinite number of ways to pass a parameter to a parameterized query, but I can't find anything on session-wide variables (that I hope can be used by any sql statement generated by our application that references them).
