How does move tablespace use MORE space not less

Hi,


Can anyone explain how "alter table x move tablespace y" ended up using
more space in table x than was the case before the move.
I'm looking in dba_segments to see how much space is used.
The reason I'm doing the move is to free up some space but for a
minority of the tables, more space is used.
Any explanations greatly appreciated.
