The last I knew you have to buy third party ODBC driver for UNIX platforms when you want to do things like use heterogenous queries to SQL Server databases from the UNIX based Oracle database.

Oracle probably provides the drivers necessary to link to other databases from UNIX, VMS, OS-Z, etc.... when you buy the Oracle Gateway product that enables Oracle to talk directly to DB2, Informix, Sybase, etc....
