Your comments are very helpful and inspirational, AS2500 seems to be tools we can employ for BI. Just a couple of questions, though.

Are planning and budgetting functionalities part of BI tools? Required or optional? Can you elaborate on that?
True, I have payed attention to Excel plugin as an OLAP front-end, and the development of Excel 12.

Do you mean millions of US dollars? I know SPSS clementine 9 alone is 75k and SS2005 EE server + 25 CAL is 14k, both are at the level of "tens of thousand dollars".
