No. No. This is recommended and perfectly wonderful.

Please provide the following information:

• the output of 'ls -l $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle'
• the output of ls -l on the file that is read although it should not be.
• the entries in /etc/passwd and /etc/group that belong to root and the owners of the two files in the preceeding two items.
