Thanks for your insights; they got me 85% of the way there (TNSPING
functioning on both servers, but SQL*Plus only working locally).  The
other 15% was in the SQLNET.ORA:



NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, ONAMES, HOSTNAME)



Has to be this way (it was TNS/HOST/ONAMES, but that wasn't working for
SQL connectivity).
