Date format on SQL*Loader import

I'm trying to import some data that's been exported from Access. The data contains dates like "2/11/2004", i.e. it's possible that the DD or the MM may not have both digits present. I'm using a date mask of "DD/MM/YYYY" but this seems to be causing SQL*Loader to barf. How do I tell it about the variation in the lengths?

Or is a better way to do this?
