Oracle provides demos and tutorials, including a 'paint by numbers' site called Oracle by Example. While not always Linux, and sometimes more advanced or only near-topic, you may find the following helpful

http://otn.oracle.com
>> Training

  >> Oracle By Example
   >> Database
    >> (go through them)
     >> Content Management

Other areas on OTN include the Sample Code and the Product section (left side) going to white papers. intermedia is in the 'Content Management' area, as is Oracle Text (which was folded into intermedia for a while)

Aside from that, the 'Installation Guide for Linux x86' has a full description of what you want in Chapter 4 (Post Installation Tasks). see sections:

    Required Product-Specific Post-installation Tasks

Installing Natively Compiled Java Libraries for Oracle JVM and Oracle interMedia
Installing Oracle Text Supplied Knowledge Bases
