Confused by DBMS_LOB

The document says that we may or may not do DBMS_LOB.OPEN()/DBMS_LOB.CLOSE(). But what is the differences between doing an open and not doing it? Isn't it normal that we should open something before read/write to it? Received on Sat Jun 25 2005 - 20:49:48 CDT
