IMO, you appear to be fixated more on the dimensionality of the solution rather than any sound data base design criteria.

If a DB has data coming from AP, AR, Credit, Purchasing, and Warehouse does it need to a 5 dimension data base?

What happens when the data from different source give different results depending upon which source is queried? Which is the RIGHT answer? I guarentee you this WILL occur. GIGO!

So what if the DB stores 20 different datatypes, this does not mean you need or even should want a "20-dimension" DB.

Since you already know the answers, I wish you the best of luck at building and maintaining this Frankenstein monster.
