Sybrand answered your question, but I just wanted to remind you: Oracle tables have Columns , not fields. A file system has files containing fields. It may seem like a nitpick difference, but it reflects a real difference in thinking about databases.

So if you werre looking for this in the ORACLE documentation, and you looked under fields, you are going to find little, but if you looked under columns, then you would get the right information.
