I would think you would want to start learning with version 9.2 or 10g. You can download the software and the documentation from technet: http.//technet.oracle.com
Registration is required but the site is free. I believe that you can also find documentation at http://docs.oracle.com

Start with the Concepts manual and proceed to either the Application Developers Guide - Fundamentals or the DBA Administration Guide depending on your interests.
