I didn't see the original - but I see the reply pointing you to an example using oledb and c#.

You might consider downloading the Oracle data provider for .net from OTN. That has some samples including vb samples. If you buy books, then Apress have a relevant book for you on .Net programming http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=378 (minor disclaimer I'm not the author - but I was a tech reviewer)
