I also think that it is a direct path problem ... direct path means that you bypass the Kernel and your user-process is directly writing into the table. In this case all further mechanism like triggers are not active.

Just ... that you have to choose the direct path wilful yourself and therefore you should know about!!!

Maybe you also should check if this trigger is valid and also active ....
