Is there some reason you're using Windows 2003? 8.0.6 isn't certified for any Windows platform newer than NT 4.0, so I'm afraid you are out of luck with respect to installing and running this release on Windows 2003. Possibly you can find an old Windows NT 4.0 system, or the installation disks (hopefully including SP6) to use. I understand the legacy application won't run on anything more recent than 8.0.6 (my sympathies) so the suggestions to use said versions are useless to you. Your only recourse is to find Windows NT 4.0 and use it for your database server O/S.

Oracle certifies versions with certain platforms for reliability and supportability issues. Yes, you did get 8.0.6 installed on Windows 2003, however the fact that most utilities won't work. or work reliably and repeatably, is one reason 8.0.6 is not certified for Windows 2003. Of course, the fact that 8.0.6 is a long desupported release is another reason; 9i, 9iR2 and 10g have all been released since Windows 2003 was announced by Microsoft, making them the releases of choice for this O/S.

I know you are in a position you can't change given the legacy software you are required to support. I hope you can find a Windows NT 4.0 machine to use, or that you can find the installation disks/CDs to put NT 4.0 on a more modern box (presuming it will install on a recent machine). It is the only operating system you can use for Oracle 8.0.6.
