Windows, Oracle, Registry and Services

Anyone ever "installed" Oracle on a Win 2000 host by simply copying all the ORACLE_HOMES (for IAS, Dev6i and 8i RDBMS) and datafiles from one host to another?

You might well question the wisdom of doing this, but leaving that to one side, has anybody done this successfully? Remember it's just the database side, but the developer side too, with all the registry and services stuff as well.

One other thing - having done this, anyone then tried changing the hostname too so that the HTTP stuff can be used?

Kind regards,

Saeed
