I think 2.4.18 and 2.4.19 doesn't apply to fedora core 2. Read Ulrich Drepper's explanation at
http://people.redhat.com/~drepper/assumekernel.html

I would use the value 2.4.1 however it could be a death path to follow. Review even patch #3006854 on metalink and remember that fedora core 2, by default, uses kernel 2.6.5.

Otherwise... look around for other distribution (suse 9.1 or debian "woody" should be good alternatives).

Let me know if LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 helps.
