Missing parameter file in 9.2.0.1

I created an instance (test) in 9.2.0.1 using the dbca.  It created
spfiletest.ora but no inittest.ora, the binary but not the text pfile.
Isn't it supposed to?  Did I do something wrong, or is this some sort of
bug?  Is there a way to generate the text, inittest.ora, from the binary?
