Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions.

We want to build a new standard system for a special market to be used in medium to large scale companies. Unfortunately, we don't know much of the end user and end admin requirements. But we know that most of them currently use Oracle as RDBMS in different versions up to 9i.

I've allready read all documents you suggest (the new features doc for 10g up to now not in depth but i will do it soon). I've also read Thomas Kyte's book Experts One-on-One and i want to use its development model as basic guideline for the project - adopted to the new features in 9i and probably 10g. I don't want to use Oracle as some kind of "Super SQL base". From my point of view this does not make much sense. With my experience in former projects i know that deeply understanding the architecture and using the special features of the RDBMS speeds up the implementation process and results in 'better' - that means faster, more reliable, more secure, etc. - systems.

Up to now, there is no decision in regard to the Oracle version made in this project.

The only point i wanted to ask for is: Does we take high risks when we decide to implement for Oracle 10g? Are there any known issues with e.g. reliability, speed etc?
