Playing Oracle Intermedia ORdVideo Objects

Dear experts,

if I have an OrdVideo Intermedia Object in my oracle table, does Intermedia provides an own (proprietary) video player that directly can access the video blob from the table so that I do not have to store the video temporarily on the file system (which would decrease performance significantly).

We currently use Intermedia 8.1.6, but any comments concercning more recent versions are welcome, too.
