True, ß (Ess-Zett) is dropped officially, but You know, old habits are hard to break ... You will find people using ß in the next 10 years, including myself from time to time ...
(Ich denke, daß man noch 10 Jahre so schreibt :)

If in English ph would be dropped for pure f (which had been done in the Scandinavian languages long ago), how many poeple would switch over to it at once ? Only the minority would, because "fone number" or "filosofer" or "fysics" would just look somewhat strange to most people ...
