2 questions on this:

  1. Locally managed tablespaces were introduced in 8.1.5 - will they work with compatibility setting to 8.1.0?
  2. Are we talking about the same thing? I want to reorganize the tables, you suggest a solution to tablespaces. Does it cover table management too?

Anyway, I doubt I'll get permission to change the database that drastically. The owners tend to be very cautious when it comes to deviations from the setup made by the software vendor.
