Buy Mike Ault's book Oracle9i RAC. It is the best book on the subject. And as he takes over 500 pages to answer that question it would be a bit difficult to tackle in a usenet posting.

However ... in one sentence.

No more block pinging.

Your question is unclear.

The same way they do in any other Oracle installation. They point to an instance.
