Bingo!

Think clustering.

So suppose you have a cluster of 10 Forms servers. How do you deploy 11i across 10 servers?

Do you do it manually?
I hope not.

There must be some large Apps farms out there where people have figured out how to automate much of the grunt work associated with deploying and managing 11i software across many servers.

It appears that for the DB tier, Oracle has made much progress towards automation of DBA tasks. For example, you only need to run runInstaller on one node.

I don't see evidence that Oracle offers much in the 11i space but I'm hopeful that someone out here in customer-land has whiter papers, or perl scripts or something which allows you to take advantage of horizontal scaling.
