I do find it amazing that certain individuals can spend as much time on this thread as they have, and still do not get the point. If anything it could be that these individuals suffer from some sort of mental retardation. Even more bizarre that these same individuals do not yet understand what open source is about, or open systems for that matter. Totally frustrating as it is an erroneous position that is being promoted about open source software and how people contribute and are notified about it. Daniel Morgan and a few others have absolutely no clue how open source works, or what an open system is. They hide behind academics and policy to puff themselves up as guardians of some twisted idea. Reminds me of one of the Planet of the Apes movies or Logan's Run. People protecting a totally misguided idea based on erroneous information about a totally correct idea.

In the continuing amazement, if by chance people don't realize it, before newsgroups became really popular, they were one of the principle mechanisms for makeing open source software work, with discussion and OCCASIONAL off-topic banter tolerated. But today it's all about stupidity, arrogance, and ignorance, thus the reason I went to the level of stupidity I have to try to keep the stupidity in context.

I challenge anyone here to define for me what an open system is, but I will be willing to bet none of you can do that. It is not something for you to get defensive over, most people cannot produce the appropriate analog of what an open system is without first doing their homework. Once this understanding has been reached you may be able to begin to talk on my level. It is not about being elite, or policy, it is a level of clarity and focus.
