Yes - but I feel it is unnecessarily harsh for those who are not selling a product, people writing a program which really is free without any quotation marks, to be forced to go there too. Especially when there is scope for constructive and useful discussion about the increasing number of free programs which help with administering Oracle.

I would support a new group comp.databases.oracle.free-software, if people really felt that announcements of such programs could not be tolerated on .misc; but don't condemn them to the ghetto of .marketing along with all the advertising and press releases.

At the moment, with the current charters for the .misc and .marketing group, it seems that non-commercial project announcements and discussion belong in the former group.
