And don't forget, what is the ultimate use of the data. I just had one where they wanted separate Excel files for each of many customers. And naturally, it has to generate a good filename on both unix and Windows, and based on the customer's names, which naturally have ampersands and possesives, and using a language with different quoting rules than SQL...
