As I have pointed out, my post was neither the result of stupidity nor ignorance, I was merely talking about a company for which I worked and an approach that they took for reasons (I *_believe_*) that were to do with maintaining cross-database compatibility.

I didn't delve deeply into my own *_personal_* thoughts about how things should have been done.

I can only hope that Mr. Bakker can learn to distinguish between opinion/belief and descriptions/explanations and then learn to direct his (normally very cogent) critiques at those who deserve them.
